About Updates
Any .jar files in the updates list are newer versions of the .jar files used
by Java OceanAtlas (JOA). Most JOA updates can be handled by downloading the
jar files listed, and replacing your current copy with the new one.
Just click the update to download and save it on your local machine.
You will find the original .jar files in the same directory/folder
where the Java OceanAtlas application was installed. Move/delete/rename the
old .jar file and replace it with the new .jar. Changes will not take place until
Java OceanAtlas is restarted.
Note: Netscape interprets jar files as updaters. If you are using
Netscape to download a .jar you can work around this by right-clicking (meta-clicking under UNIX, control-click on a one button mouse)
on the .jar link and choosing to save file from the popup menu.
When you are running Java OceanAtlas, selecting "JOA News" in the "HELP"
menu on the JOA menu bar (for example at the top of any JOA plot or the
JOA Data Window) will connect you to the news window at the developer's
Java OceanAtlas web site. This will have information about the latest
changes and updates.
We update joa.jar (and others) as needed to add features and to fix small problems
reported by users. View the update history
