    Installation Notes
    1. Download Macintosh Runtime for Java (MRJ) from developer.apple.com/java/download.html
    2. Install the MRJ. Follow these instructions if you have trouble.
    3. Download the JOA installation file
    4. Double click the installation file
Note: On Mac OS 9, Stuffit Expander Version 7 or higher may require a change to one of its Preferences to properly install JOA. We suggest that prior to running Install_JOA_3_1 you locate your copy of Stuffit Expander (you can use Sherlock for this), start Stuffit Expander, and examine the Preferences (located under the Edit menu in Stuffit Expander V.7). There is one critical issue we are aware of: Please make certain under the choices for the 'Expanding' preferences that 'Continue to expand (if possible)' is disabled.
    5. Follow the on-screen instructions
The following steps are for Mac OS 9 only:
    6. Find the files named 'mac.jar' and 'swingall.jar' under the folder where you installed JOA. Move these files to the 'MRJClasses' folder. The path to this folder is: <Your System Volume>:System Folder:Extensions:MRJ Libraries:MRJClasses
Note: Under some rare circumstances, Stuffit Expander will install these files into a temporary subfolder named something like "zg1539905052tmp Folder". If this happens, open this folder to find mac.jar and swingall.jar and move to the System folder as described above.
    7. You do not need to restart your Mac after moving these files, but you may have to restart Java OceanAtlas if it is running when you move these files.

    System Requirements

    • OS X version 10.1.3 or higher--Mac OS X 10.2 recommended. If you are running Mac OS X 10.1, you will also need the Java 1.3.1 Update 1 from Software Update (accessed from System Preferences). If you do not see an item called Java 1.3.1 Update 1 in Software Update, you already have the latest version and you can continue to install JOA for Mac OS X.
